What type of marketing support does your life sciences business need to grow?

Every life science business has ambitions to grow, but what that growth looks like, and what it takes to get there, can be very different depending on the size of the business, its priorities, and where it is in its journey.

Having the right marketing support in place can make a real difference, but knowing what that support should look like isn’t always straightforward.

Do you need a focused project to deliver against a specific objective, or a longer-term marketing partner to support your wider growth ambitions?

From my perspective, working in Client Services, I don’t think it’s a case of one being better than the other. It’s very much about what the business needs at that point in time.

And those projects can create a huge amount of impact. But what we often see is that a successful project can also uncover that next opportunity.

Looking beyond the immediate milestone

I think about it like this:

You’ve launched your new brand, but how are you going to build ongoing awareness of it?

You’ve invested in a new website, but how will you drive the right people to it and convert that traffic?

You might have attended a major industry event, made some great connections, and generated new leads. How are you going to nurture those relationships afterward?

These things don’t happen overnight, particularly in life sciences, where building credibility and converting interest into commercial opportunities can take time.

That’s where the shift from a moment to momentum becomes important.

With a longer-term marketing program, we have the opportunity to learn, optimize, and connect different activities together rather than treating each campaign or deliverable in isolation. We can understand what’s performing, identify where improvements can be made, and adapt our approach as the business and its commercial priorities evolve.

It also gives us the opportunity to track performance and return on investment over time, using what we’ve learned to continually improve results rather than simply reporting on the outcome of a project once it’s finished.

Becoming an extension of the team

One of the biggest differences is how the client relationship develops.

The longer we work together, the more context we have around your business, the market, your internal stakeholders, and the challenges you’re navigating. We’re closer to your teams, we hear more regularly about what’s happening within the business, and we can be more proactive in identifying opportunities.

That means we’re in a much stronger position to challenge thinking and make recommendations, rather than just responding to an immediate ask.

It’s when we can really operate as an extension of the client’s team, with a shared understanding of what they’re trying to achieve commercially, that we’re truly able to unlock the magic.

Building towards your bigger ambitions

In an ideal world, businesses would have a consistent marketing and brand-building program in place, with the flexibility to dial up activity around key milestones, whether that’s a launch, an acquisition, or expansion into a new market.

But we also understand the reality. Budgets, internal resources, and changing business priorities all influence what’s possible at any given time. Sometimes a focused project is the right place to start, giving a business the opportunity to see what’s possible and understand the value that specialist marketing support can bring.

This can be a great starting point; some of our strongest client relationships start with a specific challenge or immediate need, before evolving into something much broader as the business grows and priorities change.

What I do think is important, though, is recognizing that if you have long-term growth ambitions, you need a marketing and brand engine that supports them. Building awareness, establishing credibility, and generating consistent commercial opportunities isn’t something that happens through isolated moments alone.

For me, it’s about looking at the bigger picture, whatever stage of the journey we’re joining you at.

Where do you want your business to go next, and how can we build on what we’ve already created to help get you there?
