ESG at ramarketing – our commitments and mission

We’ll get straight to the point. Time is precious – just as it is when it comes to the climate crisis. So, in 2022 we put the foundations in place for our ESG initiative and began to shape a strategy…and we’re now in a position to offer insight into our ambitions, commitments and mission.

Our mission

‘To do the right thing by contributing to a more sustainable, responsible and inclusive world, starting at a grassroots level’

Climate crisis

The climate crisis will be one of the defining challenges of our generation. We see and feel that climate is changing: wildfires, floods, and droughts are getting more common and the temperature is rising globally.

Greenhouse gases caused by human activity are the main drivers of climate change, therefore we must take action to limit global warming. This can only be done if all sectors of the global economy transform, and ramarketing wants to be an organization that lives, breathes, and drives this transformation.

Reducing carbon emissions

In March 2023, we delivered our first net-zero report, which outlined how our people and company can collectively combat the effects of climate change.

While our footprint is relatively small, we are committed to reducing our carbon emissions in the areas in which we have the greatest impact on the environment: our offices and energy usage and our emissions from commuting and the things we purchase.

We have committed to aligning our strategy with the Science Based Targets Initiative Net Zero Standard and established the following short-term science-based targets:

  • Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon emissions reduction by 2030 in line with the 1.5 °C target set within the Paris Agreement
  • 100% renewable energy use by 2027
  • Transitioned to 50% sustainable and/or local suppliers by 2028

Other initiatives

We will also undertake Carbon Literacy Training with the aim of becoming a Gold level Carbon Literate Organisation by 2025.

This will also ensure we can adequately support and inspire our clients in their ESG efforts.

Putting the ‘S’ in ESG: our nominated charities

Beyond our environmental impact, we know we have a role to play in the broader communities that we impact and we will be giving back as much as we can. As a first step, we asked our team to nominate charities for ramarketing to fundraise for in 2023. We had some fabulous nominations and we’ve now selected charities that we believe we can have the most positive impact for. To learn more about each charity, please click below.

  • The People’s Kitchen, Newcastle
We have supported this incredible charity for a long time and they are thrilled to continue our relationship as we support them in providing a safe haven for the vulnerable people of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
  • The Bubble Foundation, Newcastle
The Bubble Unit, at the RVI Hospital in Newcastle was established in 1987 to treat babies and children born with defective immune systems, by offering them bone marrow transplantation. Since 1994 and 2000 respectively, the Unit has also begun to treat children suffering from leukemia, and severe forms of arthritis.
  • Wood St Mission, Manchester
Wood Street Mission is a children’s charity helping children and families living on a low income in Manchester and Salford. They provide practical help to help meet children’s day-to-day needs and improve their life chances.
  • Autism Society of America
For 58 years and counting, the Autism Society, including our nationwide network of affiliates, connects people to the resources they need through education, advocacy, support, information and referral, and community programming.

Governance

We have established an ESG committee who are responsible for the delivery of the actions within the plan and for identifying future opportunities. To ensure continual improvement, we will review the effectiveness of our plan in Q3 2023, updating and improving where needed. In Q1 2024 we will assess progress against the targets alongside the measurement of our 2023 GHG emissions.

We’ll be providing updates across the year in our insights section – so watch this space.

Climate leadership

One of the most significant things we can do at ramarketing when it comes to supporting the fight against climate change is to influence our customers and our sector to take positive steps to do the same. The life sciences are buzzing with conversations around sustainability – now is the time to not only act but to shine an energy-efficient light on your efforts – and we can help you do both.

From strategic alignment, internal engagement, external transparency and promoting sustainable products or services to help you align growth with ESG initiatives – we have the skills and understanding to help you shape, deliver and communicate your ESG efforts.
