The situation

Juniper Pharma Services was a US-owned and NASDAQ-listed contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) that specialized in advanced characterization, IP consulting, formulation development, analytical services and clinical manufacturing.

Based in the UK, Juniper specialized in formulation development and clinical manufacturing, focusing on delivering drug product supply from early-phase development to late-phase clinical manufacture. Juniper’s advanced manufacturing, tableting and capsule-filling capabilities were complemented by renowned early-phase scientific expertise, including specialist knowledge of developing formulations for ‘challenging’ molecules and overcoming stability, efficacy, and solubility challenges.

The ask

They came to ramarketing with the goal of creating a new visual style along with a clear, consistent and compelling story to accompany its global growth ambitions.

The move coincided with its Boston-based parent company Columbia Laboratories, Inc. adopting its new brand identity as Juniper Pharmaceuticals, Inc. With a solid foundation in science and a proven track record in supporting drug developers in overcoming tough formulation challenges, this gave Juniper a differentiator that could connect with its audience to generate interest in its oral and topical development and production services.

What we did

Juniper Pharma Services was a CDMO with a solid foundation in science and a proven track record in supporting drug developers in overcoming tough formulation challenges. For CPhI Worldwide 2016, Juniper Pharma Services wanted a creative concept that encapsulated everything the CDMO is about; growth, knowledge, experience, strength, and established roots. With that, the Juniper Tree was born. The tree’s rings represent years of experience whereas the tree itself and its branches represent Juniper’s strong science roots and collaborative alliances. Inspiration was also drawn from the Juniper berry.

And the results?

Working as an extension to Juniper’s commercial team in Nottingham, we have managed the CDMO’s reputation and marketing materials since 2013, contributing to its year-on-year growth. Focusing on the company’s scientific roots and unrivaled expertise in early-phase development, we created a unique visual brand style and clear messaging that resonated with the CDMO’s client and prospect needs.
