DIGITAL AGENCY WELCOMES ROYAL VISIT
His Royal Highness, The Duke of York KG, visited digital specialist AYO Media in Gateshead to learn about how it along with other creative businesses are providing growth in the economy and employment for young people.
Prince Andrew visited the rapidly expanding web development firm along with graphic design agency company Blue Kangaroo, both of which are currently based at the Gateshead Council run Gateshead International Business Centre.
The Duke of York supports entrepreneurs at all stages of their development. His Royal Highness was impressed by individuals he met as they are excellent examples of the creative industries that are so important to the UK economy.
Tyneside-based AYO Media, which also recently opened an office in Manchester, has doubled in size in the last twelve months. The Duke of York, who was greeted by Mayor of Gateshead, Cllr Joe Mitchinson, was pleased to learn more about the entrepreneurial spirit behind the company’s growth and how it is employing young people through apprenticeships.
Rob Mathieson, managing director at AYO Media, said: “We were delighted and truly honoured to welcome His Royal Highness the Duke of Your to our offices in Gateshead.
“We are working in a thriving sector that is helping us provide exciting employment opportunities for talented young people. We hope the visit gave him a flavour for our business, future ambition and potential for creating more jobs in the North East, North West and beyond.”
With around 15 employees, AYO Media’s technical experts deliver business critical software that ranges from process management to point of sale solutions. These web-based systems assist its clients in driving efficiency, improving profitability and measuring return on investment.
Gateshead Council cabinet member for employment and skills, Cllr Malcolm Graham, said: “We passionately believe in supporting new and growing businesses as well encouraging entrepreneurship. The Gateshead International Business Centre is a great example of that support and it is clear to see that, even in these difficult economic times, creative business can grow and prosper.
“Providing extra support in the early days to new businesses in our incubation units at the Gateshead International Business Centre reaps great rewards for our economy as well as for the businesses involved.”
